Akshay Kumar invests in wearable tech startup Goqii

Wearable tech startup Goqii has raised an undisclosed amount as part of Series C funding from Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. The company has also named the actor as its official brand ambassador.
The latest round of funding comes eight months after Goqii raised $30 million in a funding round led by Japanese conglomerate Mitsui & Co.
Apart from endorsing the brand, Akshay will be a part of several initiatives on Goqii’s app to promote and broad base the presence of the brand in the country.
Commenting on the association with the actor, Vishal Gondal, founder & CEO at Goqii in a statement said, “We are extremely happy to have Akshay Kumar as part of our Goqii Family. He personifies the values that Goqii stands for, and is a living example of what we advocate - exercise, eat healthy, and rest well. Goqii is committed to making the world a healthy and happy place, with Akshay Kumar we will get there soon.”
On his association with Goqii, Akshay Kumar added, “I believe in the Goqii preventive health ecosystem, and I am proud to be associated with such a passionate team. Health is not a short term goal and can be achieved by adopting a healthy lifestyle. I, along with the team of leading Goqii coaches, will be working to making 130 crore Indians healthy.”
With a 19 percent market share, Goqii was the second-biggest player in India’s wearables market last year.
