Aekatri by Charu Vij shows for first time at AIFW

For the first time ever, Aekatri by Charu Vij took part in Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) with the presentation of the brand’s autumn/ winter pret collection.

Aekatri by Charu Vij kicked off day four of AIFW on March 17 at the event’s venue, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. AIFW, which ran from March 14 to 18 this season, hosted the Aekatri runway show for the first time but the collection’s professional presentation did not give that away.

Aekatri, which was founded by Charu Vij in September 2011, presented a collection of rich hues and rustic textured fabrics. “We are thrilled to announce our first ever runway presentation at Amazon India Fashion Week, showcasing our pret autumn-winter 2018,” wrote the brand on its social media as it gave tasters of what was to come.

Models walked the runway in simple but striking platform leather shoes and had simple, elegant hairstyles. Make up was kept natural but statement earrings added drama in the form of half-moon hoops. The clothing featured rich oranges and reds as well as blacks and greys all in handloom textiles. Rolled necklines and loose, below the knee skirts gave the collection a relaxed yet graceful feel and earthy, floral embroidery added detail. All in all, the collection was very wearable and had a natural, aesthetic that harked back to India’s handloom traditions.
