Adsum previews wilderness-inspired AW16 collection

The New York City-based menswear brand takes a break from the big city for AW16 having taken inspiration from cross-country skiing in the Canadian wilderness. Adsum founder and designer, Pete Macnee, is familiar with the Canadian outdoors after going on ski trips with his family as a child. The collection consists of technical pieces that can perform in the immense cold and luxurious stretch wool/cashmere blend styles that are suited for the urban environment.

“We try to create clothing that draws inspiration from the things we love: sports, the outdoors, classic American menswear, and the northeast,” said Macnee. “Our lookbook captures the environment that inspired us when designing the collection.”

Macnee founded Adsum in New York City in 2014. The independent label provides elevated staples, technical outerwear, updated classics and enduring clothing made in different parts of the US like New York City, Massachusetts and Los Angeles. The brand launched with a capsule collection in FW15, which was available online only, and its SS16 collection will be carried exclusively at SHIPS Japan and online.

On his career and his brand, Macnee said, “I’ve been lucky to have been exposed to many of the important elements of the fashion industry like production, development and design. I was considering a few job opportunities in the industry, but I chose to pursue my dream of starting my own brand. Adsum is my personal interpretation of men’s fashion, and I pull inspirations from the people and places that I admire.”

Adsum opened its wholesale season at Pitti Uomo this weekend, and it will show its AW16 collection at MAN Paris from January 22-24, Liberty NY from January 26-28 and Jacket Required from February 3-4.
