Aditya Birla plans Pantaloons and Madura expansion

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd has seen growth in both its Pantaloons and Madura divisions and aims to continue the expansion of both with 60 to 70 Pantaloons stores and 300 to 350 Madura segment brand stores planned.

Aditya Birla plans to open between 60 and 70 Pantaloons stores this year

Aditya Birla plans to greatly expand the brick-and-mortar retail presence of a number of its fashion brands during the remainder of the year, the business’s managing director Ashish Dikshit told Mint in an interview. The business has also worked on resizing its existing stores to improve its profit margins.

“Our distribution plans are pretty aggressive,” said Dikshit. “In Pantaloons, we want to add between 60 and 70 stores, and other brands put together, that is, brands under the Madura segment (such as Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Ralph Lauren) we want to add between 300 and 350 stores by next year. So it is an aggressive expansion strategy that must be backed by adequate brand investment. That’s the trajectory we are on.”

“Our overall revenues have grown by nearly 13 percent, our profit has grown, margins have improved across segments,” said Dikshit about the business’ recent results. “All in all, a good performance on a full-year basis.”
