ABFRL was given single window clearance by the Odisha Industries Department which should allow it to go ahead with its plan to set up a garment manufacturing factory in Odisha’s Rayagda district. The business will invest Rs 114 crore in the project and estimates that it could create around 2,750 jobs in the area. The business will finance the project 70 percent through a loan and 30 percent through equity and balance and it will be implemented in the coming 24 months.

The Odisha Industries Department principle secretary, Sanjeev Chopra, reported that ABFRL now has the go-ahead for its planned factory. “This will be the second apparel manufacturing unit of ABFRL in Odisha and comes on the heels of the first unit in Bhubaneswar set up in November last year,” Chopra told ET Bureau. Chopra heralded the project as a milestone in the development of the Rayagda district, especially as many of the jobs it will create will be for women.

The upcoming ABFRL plant will have the capacity of producing 3.6 million pieces of clothing a year. ABFRL has a number of clothing brands including Pantaloons, Allen Solly, Peter England, and Louis Philippe. The business’ first and current Odisha plant produces around four million shirts a year and has around 2,000 employees.
