Adidas signs athlete Hima Das as brand ambassador
Indian athletics star Hima Das has been signed by sportswear giant Adidas as its brand ambassador for India. With this deal, Das will now be equipped with the top offerings from Adidas for her racing and training needs.
Commenting on her association with the brand, Das in a statement said, "I feel extremely proud to join the Adidas family and be a part of a great group of global athletes. Adidas has an incredible track record for helping athletes across sports and enabling them to reach the peak of their sport. With them, I hope to take my performances to the next level on the field and also help create change off it.”
Dave Thomas, MD, Adidas India, added, “At Adidas, we believe that ‘through sport, we have the power to change lives’ and Hima is a great example of this. Over the last couple of years, Hima and many other Indian women have emerged as torchbearers with their outstanding performances.”
The Indian sprinter Hima Das is the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal at the world level.
German sportswear maker Adidas currently has around 450 stores across the country. It has already got an approval to bring in FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) in retail through its existing wholesale entity to open company-owned stores and is planning to open 30-50 outlets by 2020.
