With this appointment, Thomas will now oversee and manage operations for West Asia, Turkey, Africa along with the Indian market. He will take charge of his new role from April 1. He has been associated with the Adidas Group since February 1998.

“Thomas has been appointed and promoted as managing director emerging markets effective April 1. A successor for his role in India will be announced in due course. Until then, Dave will continue to oversee India,” a global spokesperson told BusinessLine, confirming the development.

Thomas helped Adidas generate over Rs 1,000 crore from the Indian market for the fiscal year 2016-17 and also helped it get the FDI nod to operate fully-owned retail stores under the single brand retail policy.

Adidas is planning to scale up its retail presence in India and plans to add 50-60 stores per year across the country.

Adidas currently has around 450 stores in India and also sells online through various e-commerce platforms like Myntra, Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, and others.
