Adarsh Gill shows on day one of Amazon India Fashion Week

Adarsh Gill showcased her autumn/ winter collection for the Defiance by Adarsh Gill women’s pret line on the first day of Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW).

As the autumn/ winter season of New Delhi’s AIFW kicked off on March 14, Adarsh Gill presented her latest collection on day one of the event. The runway show, which took place at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, opened at 6:30pm and included a number of celebrity “showstoppers” including Mriganka Singh, Sofiya Azad, Sonam Pall, Sanam Bakshi, and Neha Nagar.

The collection was inspired by the 1950s and, according to the brand’s press release, was “bridging the gap between classic influences and modern forms.” Inspirations included Sophia Lauren and Audrey Hepburn and the silver screen icons’ high octane style was interpreted in a more casual, modern way.

The show’s colour scheme featured deep jewel tones, black, and navy blue as well as pops of white and bright red for evening wear. Floral patterned satins and abstract check prints were used for the show’s smart casual day wear and the evening wear took a more flamboyant turn with chiffon ruffles, fringing, and lace.  

Adarsh Gill’s eponymous label is now based in New Delhi and was founded in 1972 under its former name, Saz, in New York. Gill runs four lines namely Adarsh Gill Couture, Defiance by Adarsh Gill, Adarsh Gill Men, and Adarsh Gill Home. The brand’s flagship store is located in New Delhi’s Mehrauli district where the latest collection will be available.
