Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla collaborates with Needledust for jutti collection

Design duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla have collaborated with footwear brand Needledust to launch a collection of juttis for the winter wedding season and celebrate the brands’ one year collaborative anniversary.

The new “AJSK x Needledust” jutti collection features a mix of neutral-toned, bridal style footwear as well as brightly coloured magenta and yellow designs. Pearls, mirror inlays, crystals, and gold thread make for an opulent statement and notable details include beaded waterfall fringing which sways from the back of some of the juttis.

Models include the “Chandelier Mule” and “Ivory Pearls Jutti” and the collection retails from Needledust’s dedicated e-commerce store. Launched by Shirin Mann Sangha in 2014, Needledust specialises in juttis for women and children.

Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla also announced that the brand is now part of The Gyaan Project, an initiative by Rooshad Shroff that aims to celebrate design and “empower through education,” the design duo wrote on Facebook. The project saw 12 creatives produce a decorative marble inlay plate and 10 of each design are being sold to benefit the CITTA Foundation’s Rajkumari Ratnavati Girls School in Jaisalmer this December. 

Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla launched their eponymous brand in 1986, specialising in couture occasion wear. The brand is known for its revival of heritage craft traditions including Chikankari, Zardozi, and Tharad and the brand is based in Mumbai.
