Abraham & Thakore to show collection with EcoVero at Lakme Fashion Week
Day two of Lakme Fashion Week is once again dedicated to eco-friendly fashion with the return of Sustainable Fashion Day on August 22. As part of the event, Abraham & Thakore will present a collection in collaboration with EcoVero, Lakme Fashion Week announced on its social media. Abraham & Thakore is known for its use of sustainable weaves and the collaboration will blend a modern-facing traditional wear brand with a modern sustainable textile.
EcoVero is a textile produced by Lenzing that is Derived from certified renewable wood sources and uses an “eco-responsible production process,” according to EcoVero’s website. The textile is designed and marketed as a sustainable fibre.
The brand has recently promoted sustainable fashion in a number of ways. On August 7, its creative director, David Abraham, spoke at the Handloom Symposium organised by the government’s Ministry of Textiles on the fifth National Handloom Day. Abraham spoke on how he has used handloom textiles and reinvented them in a modern way.
On August 3, the brand held a Raksha Bandhan Special collection preview event at its New Delhi and Bengaluru stores. The preview showcased the Monsoon Edit ready-to-wear collection and invited guests to “celebrate bonds,” according to its social media.
Lakme Fashion Week will run from August 21 to 25 in Mumbai and is sponsored by the makeup brand Lakme and IMG Reliance. The fashion week celebrates its 20th birthday with its upcoming edition.
