AKS expands portfolio, enters costume jewellery segment

Fashion brand AKS has expanded its product portfolio by entering the costume jewellery segment with the launch of ‘AKS Jewellery’ to sell silver junk jewellery.

AKS has already tasted success with its ethnic and fusion clothing lines by crossing over Rs 100 crore in sales. It is now looking to tap the costume jewellery segment with its new vertical.
 
AKS will be selling its jewellery products with Flipkart-owned fashion platform Myntra and on the company’s official website.
 
Commenting on the launch of AKS Jewellery, Nidhi Yadav, creative head and founder of AKS Clothings in a statement said, “The idea to expand the business in the jewellery vertical is due to increase in demand of people in aesthetic appearance, growing fashion consciousness, and changing standards of living are the key factor driving costume jewelry market growth.”
 
“Costume jewelry is in high demand among working women, teenagers, and corporate people. Innovation and adoption of new technology in costume jewelry help to attract the customers,” she added.
 
With revenue of Rs 100 crore, the bootstrapped start-up has also turned profitable in a short span of time and expects further growth in India with the expansion of its online and offline network along with its product categories.
 
The company currently has two exclusive brand outlets in the northeastern state of Nagaland and plans to add 20 more in the coming years.
