As Flipkart focuses on growing Shopsy this year, the social commerce business is bringing in new demographics, especially from more rural locations. Shopsy reported a four-fold jump in its monthly new customers over the past six months, along with a 2.7-time increase in orders, according to the business.

“We had set an audacious target of 100 million users to be on the platform by the end of the year and we are well on course to achieve that,” said Flipkart’s senior vice president for growth and monetisation Prakash Sikaria about Shopsy, ET Tech reported. “We had this advantage to start this platform with all the Flipkart selection, but we very well knew that this selection is not going to work just for completion’s sake. So, what we have done is over time build relevant selection.”

Flipkart launched Shopsy in July, 2021 after developing it for six months. The platform currently counts around 250,000 sellers and over 150 million products in categories ranging from fashion to personal care to lifestyle goods among others. Shopsy plans to focus on interactive features and video content to continue to grow.
