This season’s 6Degree Studio showcase featured five traditional wear brands with a phygital showcase on Sunday at the Fashion Design Council of India x Lakme Fashion Week.

Sanjukta Dutta, Gazal Mishra, Shaveta & Anuj, Tatwamm by Abhishek & Vinita, and Varun Chakkilam presented their latest collections at a joint showcase on an outdoor runway on the final day of the FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week. The showcase brought together an array of traditional wear brands that are interpreting heritage crafts for a modern audience.

Sanjukta Dutta’s collection featured yellows, whites, and primary colours with classic sarees juxtaposed with more experimental looks. A neck ruffle and wide waistband played with proportions and bold saree borders contrasted with ivory and gold textiles.

Gazal Mishra’s collection also had a mix of classic and fusion style silhouettes. Coral pink featured heavily with anarkalis, kurtas, and tunics and silver embellishments added an elegant, ethnic touch.

Shaveta & Anuj’s collection presented opulent occasion wear with voluminous, glittering lehengas and sheer capes. Coat dresses and long-line tops played with proportion and the collection had a mix of bridal wear classics and pieces that could be styled from day to night.

Tatwamm by Abhishek & Vinita’s collection was bright, feminine, and mixed glittering embellishments with printed textiles. Sarees made with Zardozi had an elegant weight to them and were styled in a variety of modern and youthful ways along with lehengas.

Varun Chakkilam’s womenswear collection was a flurry of fresh, soft hues and contrast embellishments. Structured lehengas and floaty sarees featured floral motifs and sheer overlays.

The FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week ran from March 16 to 22 with a mix of online and offline events. The joint fashion week was a first for India.
