Pop-up shopping exhibition, ‘Travelling Trunk: Made in Bengal’, will showcase Kolkata’s fashion design talent across India, with participating brands including Tahweave, Vasundhara Mantri, and Richa Khemka.

Travelling Trunk will hold its first shopping exhibition of 2020 from March 3 to 4 at Angasutra in Hyderabad. The multi-brand pop-up aims to showcase a curated selection of established and up-and-coming clothing, jewellery, and accessories brands, from Kolkata to the rest of India.

From March 6 to 7, the trunk show will take place in Atosa in Mumbai. Shoppers from Ahmedabad will have a chance to visit the exhibition on April 3 at White Lily at the Bohemian in the city. Finally, from April 10 to 11, the trunk show will travel to Aravali The Store in Jaipur.

“The whole idea of doing trunk show on wheels stemmed out of two visions,” the trunk show’s concept curator, Chikky Goenka, told Vogue India about the event’s conception.

“One, to promote designers from Bengal, through a unique format like this. Second, to offer shoppers something distinct, yet meaningful. Every curation is based on the city’s taste, buying behaviour and season. I envisaged immense possibilities in terms of creativity as well as business point of view.”

The event will feature brands at a range of price-points, in order to be accessible to a wide range of shoppers. Participating brands will include Tahweave by Sweta Tantia, Vasundhara Mantri, Verb by Pallavi Singhee, Richa Khemka, and Rishi & Soujit, among others. For some brands, it will be their first time retailing in some of the cities.
