LANVIN- Women's ready to wear show Spring/Summer 2018 in Paris (with interview)

Artistic Director: Olivier Lapidus Atmosphere: The first collection from this designer who was named as Artistic Director of the house last July following the departure of Bouchra Jarrar. 33 models present to inject a breath of fresh air into France’s oldest couture house.Collection: From black to open the show through to the multiple backless dresses, with back detailing, drapery and a play on sleeves. The six letters of the house blended into a leading print, in tones of dark purple, red or blue. Shortness and fluidity are put in this collection which hopes to seduce millennials. To note: The bag with the Lanvin logo& new loose volumes on two coats. Olivier Lapidus ITW:The first thing is to forget yourself, it’s not to do his collection and say ‘great, I’m going to be able to do my collection, I’m going to do my thing and I’m going to call it Lanvin’, that’s a mistake. You effectively have to go look at the archives, try to understand the DNA of the house. The message of Jeanne Lanvin was an ultra-contemporary message, she told me above all don’t made fashion from the past, you have to keep it Lanvin, this was in a dream, to do something real. There have been many logo and I bought them back for the bags, which were the JL which haven’t been taken for tens of years, not seen since 1901. In any case I’d not seen it a lot and it’s quite simply the 6 letters make up the word Lanvin which we put onto our computers so that we couldn’t read Lanvin, when we know it, we know it otherwise it’s not readable. As I had not a lot of time, I didn’t have much of a model so I had to work on a very compact collection in fact I made 240 pieces in the month of fabrication where the house was astounding. Everyone helped me, I was welcomed marvelously well but afterwards I had to cut to make just 33 looks.
