French brand Leonard has announced the appointment of Yiqing Yin as creative director, with her first collection for the label expected to hit the runway in March at Paris fashion week.

Yiqing Yin left her native China at the age of four for France and went on to study at the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. In 2010, Yiqing Yin won the Grand Prize of Creation of the City of Paris before going on to be awarded the ANDAM prize fund in 2011.

She succeeds Raffaele Borriello, who was creative director at the brand for the past three seasons. Prior to Borriello, Maxime Simoens was at the design helm for just one season before leaving just as conglomerate LVMH took control of him namesake brand.

Yiqing Yin will continue to design for her eponymous label and will remain on the Paris fashion week calendar.
