Virgil Abloh gets his own radio show

Virgil Abloh, the mastermind behind streetwear label Off-White and men's artistic director of Louis Vuitton, is launching a new Beats 1 radio show on Apple Music that he will record from Louis Vuitton's Paris atelier.

Abloh, who has been a DJ since high school, describes the show as an "audio mood board" that will play new music juxtaposed with classics.

The show, called Televised Radio, will be two hours long. In addition to music, Abloh will conduct interviews with fashion, art, design, and music influencers and his friends in his creative community.

As a DJ, Abloh has collaborated with Jay-Z and Daft Punk, and was once Kanye West's creative agency's director.

Abloh said his new radio show offers a forum for the multidisciplinary work he does, telling Vogue that "Apple's design legacy and consideration of fostering art and design made it a perfect partnership."

Apple Music's head of content Larry Jackson said partnering with Abloh is indicative of a greater cultural shift in perspective.

"As fashion shifts its point of view, embracing the influence of hip-hop culture, we felt that the time was right for Virgil to present a larger story through an exclusive Beats 1 show on Apple Music, which offers a glimpse into his design studio and the musical references driving the debut of his new collection next week, plus his other prolific work," he told Vogue.

The show will launch next Monday on Apple's Beats 1 streaming channel. Abloh's debut menswear collection for Louis Vuitton will show three days later at Men's Fashion Week in Paris.
