Viktor & Rolf has unveiled in the USA, at the New York Bridal Week, its very first bridal line for Autumn/Winter 2017. The fashion label announced in a press release that the collection was created in partnership with renowned US wedding dress specialist Justin Alexander.

In the new collection, designated as 'Viktor & Rolf Mariage', the Dutch couture label owned by Italian fashion group OTB offers a new take on its quirky style, focusing on three main concepts: "unexpected elegance, conceptual glamour and provocative couture."

The fashion label's two designer-founders, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, have dreamed up an eclectic collection, ranging from ultra-short dresses to corsets worn over trousers, without neglecting long gowns and lace.

The style may at first seem classic, but the dresses surprise for their graphic lines, their asymmetries and startling volumes, which lend them a surrealist feel.

A feel heightened by details typical of the label, such as oversize bows, sculptural frills, opulent decorations and large, flowery appliqués.

Viktor & Rolf highlighted how wedding dresses have always been a feature of the brand, from its collaboration with H&M in 2006 to the creation of the bridal gown for Dutch Princess Mabel of Orange-Nassau.

The collection adds to the label's range, confirming its very high-end positioning, in keeping with the closing down of the ready-to-wear line last year. The diversification follows the arrival of new CEO Andrea Collesei a year ago.
