A host of celebrities walked the ramp for the menswear label Varun Chakkilam, among other designers, last Thursday, in order to both showcase the designer’s new collection and raise funds for Teach for Change.

Celebrities modelling Chakkilam’s creations included the Bollywood actor Harshavardhan Rane, and South Indian celebrities Naveen Chandra, Vijay Deverakonda, Nikhil, Adith and Sindhu. The actors Allu Sirish and Sushanth Akkineni were also involved.

Chakkilam’s “Dandyism” collection had a colour palette of midnight blues, deep reds, ash greys, blacks, and ivories. Silhouettes were draped and layered contrasted by tailored jackets in a traditional fusion wear style. Accessories included jewelled brooches and the overall look was formal.

Chakkilam said at the event: "It's overwhelming to be a part of such a good cause amidst the ace designers and celebrities. Being the youngest designer it gives me immense happiness and pride that I could be a part of this fundraiser. Education is very important and 'Teach for Change' is a great cause. Looking forward to associating with them again.”

The charity Teach for Change has been involved in organising fashion fundraising events in India for the past eight years, this time partnering with Chakkilam. The charity aims to tackle illiteracy and provide education to people who cannot afford it.
