V-Mart Q4 net profit surges to Rs 16 crore

Multi brand retail chain V-Mart Retail Ltd net profit surged to Rs 16 crore (approx $2.4 million) for the quarter ended March 2018, as compared to Rs 6 crore (approx $1 million) it posted during January-March quarter of the previous fiscal.

V-Mart’s sales revenue during the quarter also jumped to Rs 299 crore from Rs 253 crore it reported in the last fiscal.
 
For the financial year 2017-18, V-Mart reported a net profit of Rs 78 crore as against Rs 44 crore in the preceding fiscal while its revenue stood at Rs1,227 crore compared with Rs1,004 crore in 2016-17.

Lalit Agarwal, CMD, V-Mart Retail Ltd in a statement said "Customers tastes are evolving and we bring in international fashion and cutting edge technology with the support of our Indian partners. Our focus on fashion and comfort has helped us increasing footfall into our stores. VMart focus has been to significantly improve private label business.”
 
The company opened 5 new stores during the quarter, out of which 4 were in UP and 1 in Bihar, taking the total store count to 171 stores across India.
 
Last month, V-Mart signed Bollywood actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar as brand ambassadors to enhance the visibility of the brand to strengthen its market position in tier 2, 3 and 4 cities across India.
