Under Armour's European ambitions are about to take physical shape. The US sport apparel and footwear label has announced it will open its first European flagship store before the end of the year. The team lead by Europe General Manager Chris Bate has chosen Amsterdam, also the location of Under Armour's European headquarters, to host the brand's first major direct retail presence in the continent.

The exact address has not yet been specified, but the 1000 m2 store will open on Kalverstraat, one of the city’s busiest commercial streets. Under Armour promises a retail concept featuring its latest training, running, golf and football collections, with digital tools playing a key role in the customers' experience.

The brand is already present in several multibrand stores in Europe, notably arriving in Italy and Serbia in the last few months, and it is keen to expand its direct retail presence in Europe's leading countries.

In the last quarter, closed at the end of June, the Under Armour group's sales grew 9%, reaching $1.1 billion, but in the same period the group posted net losses for $12 million.
