Texworld and Apparel Sourcing: 4.5% increase in visitors

The Bourget (Paris) textiles show and its new subdivision dedicated to accessories have welcomed a total of 15,424 visitors. This represents an increase of 4.5% from last year’s 14,764 visitors (a visitor is counted by each day of attendance), a fine gage of the quality of the offering for the organizer, Messe Frankfurt.

The event was marked by the comeback of buyers from the United States, Canada and Brazil. Europe was also well represented, with a strong British, Italian, Turkish and Spanish presence. Asia was no exception with a 12% increase, comparable to the increase on the part of African buyers.

“The number of visitors attests to the quality of the products of our exhibitors,” stated Michael Sherpe, president of Messe Frankfurt France. We do not have the same product offering and are not on the same market as our competitors (Première Vision, editorial note). “In terms of purchasing volume, we are very far ahead.”

Texworld brought together 960 exhibitors, up 10% from September 2010, while Apparel Sourcing held its first independent showing with 140 exhibitors from China and a dozen other countries.

In addition to the trendy spaces designed by art directors Louis Gerin and and Gregory Lamaud, the show has put together a series of lectures for this occasion. About 200 professionals were brought together, announcing the return of this initiative in the next installment which is scheduled to be held from the 13th to the 16th of February.
