Baba Ramdev, the face and head of the Patanjali brand, recently took to Twitter to announce his excitement that Patanjali had been named as India’s most trusted FMCG brand. Ramdev wrote: “Patanjali is India’s number #1 trusted FMCG Brand accordingly to ‘The Brand Trust Report’, India Study 2018 #BTR2018 – @TRA_Research.”

Patanjali, which was established in 2006 by Ramdev and his business partner Acharya Balkrishna, has recently been in the media as it is in talks to acquire the debt-laden soy foods manufacturer Ruchi Soya. If the deal goes through, this will be Patanjali’s largest merger to date but the business’ Spokesperson, S K Tijarawala, has stated that no official announcements will be made unless a deal is finalised to ensure a just process.

The Brand Trust Report 2018 by TRA is the eighth in its series. Samsung was ranked as the most trusted brand overall by the survey which involved over 15,000 hours of fieldwork and 2,488 consumer-influencers across 16 cities in India. The study generated five million data-points and 9,000 unique brands. The top 1000 brands have been listed in this year’s 200 page report which is currently available.
