Sudhanshu Jain is the former Head of Borrowing (Foreign Currency) of Icici Bank and has 14 years of experience working with internal audit, finance, and borrowing. Jain has also worked for IPCA Laboratories as an Auditor. Jain’s new role at PPB will put him in charge of all financial and regulatory management functions for the business. Jain will also play a major role in overseeing Paytm’s finances and expansion plans.

Paytm’s Managing Director and CEO, Renu Satti, said about the appointment: “I am confident his expertise in financial services will help us build innovative digital-first offerings for our users. It would also help us in our expansion efforts of reaching half a billion users with a first-of-its-kind banking model.”

Paytm launched its PPB model earlier this year as a mobile payment app. The service acts as a mobile wallet that shoppers can use the make online purchases. Following demonetisation and the rise of e-commerce in India, such services are becoming increasingly popular in India.
