Sonal Verma’s label Rara Avis showcased its “Colander” collection at LFW and leather and sequins played a big role.

The Rara Avis LFW show featured leather, sequins, and an exclusive jewellery line - Rara Avis- Facebook

One of the main elements of Verma’s designs for her label Rara Avis has always been leather and this was no different for her autumn/ winter collection. Sequins too played a big part in the collection and added more than a touch of high octane glamour. Trench coats and kimono sleeves were the two main shapes in the collection, as well as mini dresses.

The Bollywood star Sonal Chauhan was Verma’s special guest on the runway and her outfit embodied the collection as she wore a sequinned kimono mini dress with leather accents. The rest of the collection saw pinks and reds mixed with dark greens and greys in both bold and floaty styles.

The label has also just launched an autumn/ winter jewellery collection that will be sold exclusively at Ensemble India and these accessories also adorned Verma’s runway for the show. The jewellery featured leather tassels and oversized gems as well as chokers.

Sonal Verma launched her Rara Avis Label in December 2012 in New Delhi under the concept of “Immortal Design”. The brand’s name means “rare bird” in Latin. The label is available in Ensemble India as well as on several e-commerce platforms including Pernia’s Pop-up Shop.
