Shyamal & Bhumika plan continued expansion to reach brides in India and abroad

The Indian traditional and fusion wear brand Shyamal & Bhumika plans on taking Indian bridal wear to the rest of the world after recently opening its third flagship store in India at Delhi’s DLF Emporio.

"After Ahmedabad and Mumbai, we opened our third flagship store at the DLF Emporio in [the] Capital. We are on our mission to take the crafts and skills of India to the World," Shyamal Shodhan told Ians in an interview.

One of the ways in which the brand is gaining a global following is through social media. "Being one of most globally followed Indian designers on social media, we have been able to make headway in our mission and establish a connection between the niche, multi-cultural population abroad and the rich Indian craftsmanship,” stated Shodhan.

The brand is also taking into account the aesthetics and needs of what Shodhan calls “the multicultural global bride”. The brand is planning to expand internationally in the near future, although no solid plans have been announced, and will be designing for the upcoming India Couture Week.

Shyamal and Bhumika Shodhan launched their label in 2003 in Ahmedabad, a city from which the design due say they draw a lot of inspiration. The brand is well known for its traditional and bridal wear and currently has three flagship stores in Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad.
