Scheduled in the same slot as Anupama Dayal’s Anupamaa label, the Wendell Rodricks runway show took place at 8:30pm at the NSIC Ground in Okhla, New Delhi on October 11, which was the first day of AIFW.

The collection was the brainchild of Schulen Fernandes, who has been the ready-to-wear label’s head designer for the past year after she was promoted to the role following her time apprenticing at the label.

The collection featured floaty shapes that billowed out as models walked the runway, their sleeked back hair giving a modern contrast to the collection’s whimsical silhouettes. Colour blocking featured heavily in the show and striking colour combinations such as peach with red and navy blue were pieced together to make little shift dresses or longer pieces offset with ruffle like pleats at the neck.

The collection was simple yet striking, which is the aesthetic that Fernandes is forging for herself at the brand. The Indigofera collection featured many indigo dyed textiles too, as well as whites and other bright accents.

Wendell Rodricks the label was created in 1990 by its namesake and moved the business to his ancestral district, Goa, in 1993. The brand has its own e-commerce store, as well as a flagship store in Goa and can be found in boutiques in most Tier 1 Indian cities.
