Sahiba plans to expand into western wear

The affordably priced ethnic wear brand Sahiba plans on diversifying their product portfolio and expanding into western wear as they nevertheless remain optimistic about ethnic wear’s future in Indian retail.

Sahiba Ltd has completed 30 years in the textile business and currently has a budget ethnic wear brand. The brand has announced that they now plan to expand into western wear and Yashiki Gumber, the Director of Sahiba, said: "We would want to enter untapped markets of garmenting and soon you might to see a lot of western wear products from Sahiba. We aim to cater to all fashion needs of a woman and wish to offer one step solution to any woman who steps under our umbrella. Further, we are closely looking at national and international tie ups with top notch designers.”

Gumber, who also expressed his optimism concerning the ethnic wear section of the market, said: “With about a 15 percent CAGR [Compound Annual Growth Rate], the industry has a lot to bank on in the coming years.” Increased customers shopping for ethic wear should draw more footfalls and the idea to then provide them with all of their garment needs, becoming a one stop shop.

Concerning the coming months, Gumber said: “We expect demand for more festive wear parallel to the winter wear collections in the coming months.” More brand tie ups are also planned according to Gumber who said: “We aren’t really planning to focus on [the] premium segment. Rather, the reason our company does these tie ups is to provide designer fashion label at affordable prices for women who wish to have a designer label in their wardrobe, but cannot due the high prices.”
