The Fashion Narrative is a three day long event that will include a retail display, panel discussions, and workshops starting on August 10.

The Fashion Narrative will take place in Pune for three days and discussions will be held on how to revive Indian weaves and textiles - Rudraksh- Facebook

Rasika Wakalkar is the founder of Rudraksh, a multibrand ready-to-wear and evening wear boutique in Pune. After witnessing a lack of fashion events in the city, Wakalkar came up with The Fashion Narrative, an event that aims to both explore fashion and its heritage in India and show different designer wares.

About the event, Wakalkar said, “I have been associated with fashion for a long time. I wanted to bring to the city much more than what we have. The city has the potential and the vibe to do wonders when it comes to fashion and style. This three day session is my way of giving back to the city.”

One focus of the event will be Indian woven textiles, which will be brought in by Weave in India and displayed in the Rudraksh boutique. Some of the weaves that will be displayed and discussed include Varanasi silks, linens, Patan Patolas, and Chanderis from all over the country. Discussions will also centre on how to make sure some of India’s handwoven textiles can be saved from extinction. A panel on textile revival will thus be held.

The event is in line with the Indian Government’s Make in India campaign and Wakalkar stated that, “This is our way of celebrating the Independence week and bringing the focus of fashion and Make in India to the grassroots of Indian fashion.”
