The Gurukul School of Design in Jaipur, Rajasthan, is set to give its first class by the end of the month and students will begin the institute’s four year Bachelor’s degree programme in design. Rathore aims to modernise fashion design education with his contemporary teaching methods and holistic approach and he has stated that he hopes the institute will influence education institutes across Asia.

Rathore has partnered with the Jaipur based jewellers Amrapali Jewels for the institute. Rathore has also based his curriculum on guru-shishya concepts and has stated that students will also be taught how to give back to the design world and society as a whole.

"The course is designed in a way that's sustainable in India, and it's not affiliated with any international college," Rathore told Elle India. "In the first year, students will learn the technical skills about fashion, while also experiencing the culture around the world. They will be made to realise the importance of modern tools, like a mobile phone, and how vital the role of technology is today."

The students will have the opportunity to travel abroad during their second year to visit international cities such as Florence, Italy. Rathore believes that this will help students to learn about luxury fashion. The third and fourth years will include practical teachings on how to manage production, finances, taxes, and the handloom industry.
