Raf Simons will return to Pitti Uomo for the fourth time in 20 years. After revealing last month which designers will be guests of honour at the show's 90th edition (Gosha Rubchinskiy, Fausto Puglisi, Visvim and Lucio Vanotti), the menswear show scheduled in Florence from 14th to 17th June pulled a masterful new trick out of the hat, by announcing the presence of the former creative director of Dior.

The Belgian designer already featured at Pitti Uomo in 2003 and in 2005, and in 2010 for the show by Jil Sander, of which he was at the time the Creative Director. He will now be making a grand return to men's fashion benchmark show, as part of a special project called 'Florence calling: Raf Simons'.

He will present his Spring/Summer 2017 collection, which therefore will not be showing at the Paris Fashion Week, and will organise a special event for Pitti.

"Florence holds a special place in my heart. I have returned there regularly in the last few years, to present my work or to collaborate in projects reflecting my own personal vision," Simons commented in a press release.

This is a fine piece of work by the Florentine show, considering the great expectations building around Raf Simons after he left Christian Dior in October 2015.
