Ka-Sha the label is from Pune and specialises in layered, loose designs featuring handwoven and hand dyed fabrics that are both eclectic and elegant. Karishma Shahani Khan, the label’s founder, was picked as part of a group of Indian brands to be part of the IFS at London Fashion Week after the group of designers formed a collective curated by IMG Reliance that won the IFS Country Award earlier this year in February for their show, “The Indian Pastoralists”.

The brand had previously shown the collection at Amazon India Fashion Week this March and Khan said about her design process, “I drew inspiration from the Rabari tribe in Kutch.” The collection of richly coloured garments is intended to be able to be worn in multiple ways to create different looks whilst travelling and Khan created a fusion between traditional Indian textiles and her own bohemian vision.

Khan said about the event: “People [at the event] had their own vision of India, to do with pigeons and peacocks and Zari and Zardozi… They weren’t expecting what they saw. But this is what India is. This is the kind of clothing we make; we didn’t alter our style to be there. I think it made people look at Indian fashion in a new way.”
