Prisma: expansion into omni-channel

The Poomex Group’s apparel brand Prisma plans on expanding throughout India and developing an omni-channel strategy as it diversifies its product range.

Prisma, an apparel brand that currently specialises in leggings and lounge wear, is planning to roll out an online and offline retail expansion plan that will see it move through India region by region. The brand currently has five stores in South India, five in Mumbai, and a franchise outlet in Pune and five new brick and mortar franchise stores are planned for Gujarat in the near future.

The brand, which has a wide array of colour leggings and also carries lounge wear and outer wear, has so far done 80 crore rupees (approximately 12 million US dollars) worth of business from its stores. The next round of product and retail expansion aims to greatly increase that total.

Ajay Kumar Jain, Prisma’s Executive Director, recently told Images Retail Bureau: “We have recently entered into the retail market and are working to expand our reach. We are opening exclusive stores for men and women. A couple of flagship stores are also in the pipeline… We are expanding carefully – going region by region. We have made our presence felt in the Southern region with five EBOs [exclusive business outlets] and 3,500 MBOs [multi-brand outlets] and now we are slowly inching up, exploring the market for EBOs, MBOs and franchise outlets.”

The brand is also focusing on an omni-channel approach to reach a greater audience. Jain said: “Although we don’t have an Omnichannel strategy yet, we are well on the way to planning and implementing one soon. For the time being, our products are available on some e-commerce sites and we are looking for more exclusive sites. We also have our own website… where patrons can go and purchase our products.”

Prisma was launched five years ago as part of the Poomex Group which itself has a 40 year long history. The brand is based in Tirupur in Tamil Nadu.
