Petit Bateau invites JC de Castelbajac into nautical universe

Knitwear and the salty ocean air: that’s what the French imagine when they think of Petit Bateau…as does Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. Having been invited to collaborate with the Troyes-based fashion house (following in the footsteps of Cédric Charlier, Christian Lacroix, Carven, etc.), the Parisian designer has imbued a new mini-collection, which is set to be released in fall, with his own brand of pep.

Bearing the label "JC de Castelbajac Paris", the capsule collection with Petit Bateau includes a dozen models available in various colors. Aimed at infants, children and adults, the collection revisits nautical codes in the colorful pop-art style held dear by the designer.

The flagship model is clearly the waxed yellow poncho, whose futuristic hood can also be transformed into a hat. De Castelbajac also obviously didn’t forget about the striped nautical top, which he has embellished with epaulets and waxed canvas insets.

Finally, he makes his mark with drawn portraits of a Little Prince-like little sailor printed on t-shirts, sweatshirts and leotards for children. With prices for the latter starting at 25 euros, or 40 euros for adult pieces, the capsule is aimed at a wide audience. It will be available in preview at Petit Bateau’s flagship store on the Champs Elysées as well as on its website on October 12 before becoming available in a selection of the fashion house’s stores worldwide on October 19.
