The Ayurvedic beauty and wellness brand Patanjali is now allowed to sell its products in cooperative societies across Uttar Pradesh following a local government ruling. Cooperative societies have a large customer base in Uttar Pradesh, especially in the state’s rural areas, and so this government ruling will allow Patanjali to grow its customer base significantly in the region.

The initial phase of the plan will see cooperative societies in 14 districts of three divisions in Uttar Pradesh, Saharanpur, Moradabad, and Meerut, start selling Patanjali products, including its beauty range. A letter setting out this plan has been distributed to CEOs of the respective District Cooperative Banks (DCBs). Vacant posts in Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) will also be filled as part of the plan.

“In the first phase, complete range of organic products owned by Patanjali would be launched at cooperative societies of 14 districts as a pilot project,” explained the Commissioner and Registrar of Cooperatives, Narendra Kumar Singh, who issued the letter. “Cooperatives in other districts will also be allowed to sale these products subsequently,” Singh said.
