Patanjali expects continued growth in online sales

The Ayurvedic fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) company Patanjali has reported strong sales online after launching in January and the business heads expect this trend to continue.

Expecting a strong and improved performance in the current fiscal year, the heads of Patanjali have reported that they are pleased with the business’ performance, especially online. The CEO of Patanjali, Acharya Balakrishna, recently said in a statement: "We are doing online business of Rs 10 to 15 crore, and expect it to increase further every month." This figure is around between 1.5 and 2.3 million US dollars.

Balakrishna stated that the brand’s online sales should continue to rise over the course of the current financial year and also mentioned that the brand has been able to achieve high sales without resorting to discounting.

The head of Patanjali, Baba Ramdev, has not disclosed his business’ figures for the past financial year. However, he has announced that he is pleased with the business’ performance and expects a better performance this year. Both Ramdev and Balakrishna have also expressed that they will be creating more jobs connected to the company in the near future.

So far Patanjali has partnered with eight large e-commerce companies to retail online. There are: Flipkart, Amazon, Grofers, Shopclues, BigBasket, 1mg, PaytmMall, and Netmeds. The entire range of Patanjali products, including its beauty and wellness lines, are available across these platforms.
