AIFW, which began on March 14 and is currently running until March 18 in New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, saw Pallavi Mohan launch her autumn/ winter collection. Mohan had been sharing behind the scenes snapshots in the run up to the show including of garment construction and fittings but what she had kept as a surprise was that some of the models walked the runway hand in hand with little girls wearing a mini version of their looks as other young models even walked the runway on their own.

Mohan’s collection was distinctively Parisian in flavour and Indian in taste. Many models wore berets with both day and evening looks and the collection had no shortage of sparkle. Day wear included heavily embellished pencil skirts and sheer blouses, silk trousers, and elaborate coats. Over the knee boots carried day wear into evening wear and both the black and the white gowns were drenched in sequins. Some jewel tone pieces also featured, as well as in accents for the children’s wear, and feather trims added a fun element to the elegance of the collection.

Pallavi Mohan launched her “Not So Serious” label in 2007 after studying textile design at London’s Chelsea College of Art and Design. Mohan has shown abroad including in Kazakhstan with the Fashion Design Council India and her designs retail worldwide including in Greece, Japan, Singapore, England, Spain, and France among others.
