As India’s middle class looks to break into the luxury market, Neeta Lulla launches N Bride, a bridal line to cater to their tastes and budget.
Neeta Lulla started creating wedding wear in 1985 and found major fame after creating garments including a pearl encrusted lehenga for Aishwarya Rai’s wedding in 2007. After a long career in the luxury wedding market, she has decided to launch a more affordable line for brides who also want a high end wedding, but do not have such a high end budget.
Lulla calls the middle class the “next big consumer of luxury” and is one of the first from the luxury bridal sector to tap into this emergent market. Lulla’s new line, N Bride, will be priced between 30,000 rupees (approximately 450 dollars) and one lakh (approximately 1,500 dollars) and the aim is to make every garment a limited edition item. Both traditional and western silhouettes will be available as non-traditional weddings rise in popularity and the collection will be available internationally including in Vesimi in Dubai and Bibi in London as well as online at Pernia-s Pop-up Shop and in Lulla’s own flagship store.
Neeta Lulla is based in Mumbai where she has a flagship store and has won several awards including the National Film Award for best Costume Design. Lulla has worked on costume design for over 300 films and has dressed many celebrities such as Shilpa Shetty and Sridevi. In this way, Lulla has a strong presence in both Bollywood and the fashion industry.
