Naeem Khan showed his ballerina inspired collection on September 12 at New York Fashion Week and models were adorned with the traditional Indian jewellery of his homeland.

Khan showed a bright and eclectic collection that was inspired both by the prima ballerina Anna Pavlova and traditions of his native India.

Khan’s show saw models walk the runway wearing dramatic septum rings, earrings, and face chains inspired by Indian bridal jewellery along with luxurious gowns and eclectic separates. Whilst the jewellery was definitely Indian in flavour, the clothing had international influences that reflected the collection’s muse Anna Pavlova’s love of travel. Lace and textured embroidery played heavily in the collection and there was a healthy mix of monochrome looks and full colour ensembles.

Naeem Khan was born in India and moved to the US in his late teens where he apprenticed for Halston and later launched his eponymous label in 2003. Khan has dressed many well-known celebrities including Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and Penelope Cruz and his designs retail in over 100 speciality stores across the world.
