Following a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by the Madhya Pradesh State Skill Development Mission (MPSSDM), the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will have exclusive rights to provide training to people in the textile sector under the Mukhya Mantri Kaushalya Yojana (MMKY).

The NIFT will train 10,000 youths as part of a MoU - NIFT- Facebook

Under the MMKY, the NIFT will provide training to around 10,000 young people and the training will cover aspects of the textile sector. After completing the training programme, the plan is for 70 percent of trainees to be employed by industries that have partnered with the scheme to provide practical training.

“State domicile and Class 8 pass out are eligible for training,” said Sameer Sood, the Joint Director of the NIFT. “The training programme will start in 15 days and… [it] will be of one month duration. The training will be provided on [a] batch basis and each batch will include 30 applicants.”

The training will give participants a Grade Four certificate and between ten and 12 courses will be provided depending on industry demand. Four of these courses have already been confirmed and they all relate to spinning textiles. The MMKY relates to the Indian Government’s “Make in India” campaign which is promoting domestic production, something this course will train participants to engage in.
