Medela steps into maternity wear

The global maternity brand Medela has stepped into clothing by launching a maternity wear line that will be distributed throughout its India outlets.

Medela has been retailing maternity based products such as breast pumps throughout India for a decade and, due to customer demand, has now started producing maternity wear. Concerning the new product line, Emilie Moulard Anand, the Managing Director of Medela India, said: “Consumer demand for Medela products has been constantly growing on the account of our continuous focus on research and education and developing innovative products with clear benefits to users. The maternity wear range which was recently launched in India, enables Medela to even better provide breastfeeding solutions that meet the lifestyle needs of Indian mothers. Medela can complement its range of breast pumps and accessories with fashionable nursing lingerie and tanks.”

Moulard Anand said about the line’s product range: “Our maternity and nursing wear collection cater to the premium yet affordable pricing range. Starting at Rs 1,999 we offer a range of nursing bras and tank tops... The premium stretch fabric adjusts to the changing shape of the mother’s body while the wire-free and seam-free design provide excellent support and everyday comfort during pregnancy and while nursing.”

Medela was founded over 50 years ago in Switzerland and has a global presence including across India. The brand does not currently have any exclusive brand outlets in India nor plans to open any in the near future but is retailed through multi-brand baby shops, pharmacies, department stores, and online such as on Amazon India.
