Masaba Gupta collaborates with Levi's

Indian fashion designer Masaba Gupta is working on yet another collaboration, this time with Levi's for a denim jacket designed to represent India in their upcoming exhibition.

Following recent collaborations with Oppo, Himalayan Orchard Pure, and FabAlley, Masaba Gupta, the founder of the fashion brand House of Masaba has now collaborated with the American denim label Levi's. The collaboration will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the brand’s signature trucker jacket, a denim jacket almost as synonymous with the brand as their classic jeans.

Gupta said about the collaboration: “It’s been 50 years of the iconic Levi's trucker jacket, so they're putting together an exhibition at the Levi's museum that's they're setting up in Los Angeles… They approached people from different parts of the world and who belong to various professions, so you have Justin Timberlake, Chance the Rapper, Miroslava Duma, and Virgil Abloh from the label Off-White.” Gupta has been chosen to represent India out of the group of designers.

Gupta said about her design process: “I did it while I was at fashion week… I literally had one or two days to turn it around.” Representing India, Gupta’s design features two of her signature cow motifs as well as Shlokas hand painted across the arms and shoulders. The exhibition will feature a total of 50 Levis jackets all customised by different designers and they will all be auctioned off to raise money for charity. Celebrities Solange Knowles and Karlie Kloss are also involved.
