Footwear label Manolo Blahnik is expanding operations in Asia through a new distribution and retail partnership with Bluebell Group.

Manolo Blahnik plans expansion into Asian markets

With the help of the luxury importer, Manolo Blahnik plans to open its first shop-in-shop in Singapore, Japan and Malaysia this fall.

Initially, Bluebell Group will help Manolo Blahnik to launch its first shop-in-shop in the Japanese market’s leading department stores. A flagship store in Tokyo will then open in 2017.

Under the agreement, Bluebell will assist with the brand's current 41 points-of-sale in Japan. The Japanese locations will be added to Manolo Blahnik’s existing 290 points-of-sale across 33 countries.

In Malaysia, a 1,022-square-foot store will bow within the Pavilion Mall in Kuala Lumpur. Meanwhile, in Singapore, the Manolo Blahnik shop-in-shop - currently operating at Takashimaya - will
be run by Bluebell Singapore. It will undergo renovations later this year.

“Manolo Blahnik is a global brand but with comparatively small distribution in Japan, Malaysia and Singapore," said Kristina Blahnik, CEO of Manolo Blahnik International, in a statement.

"With Bluebell now as our partners we are excited about exploring and building the business in these regions and further territories."
