Manish Malhotra unveils couture collection at Pune's Yoo Villas launch

Manish Malhotra unveiled his Summer 2018 couture collection over the weekend in Pune at an event that also saw the launch of Yoo Villas and a performance by Sophie Choudry.

Over the weekend of March 17 and 18, Manish Malhotra presented his latest couture collection with special guest models, the Bollywood celebrities Aditi Rao Hydari, Nushrat Bharucha, and Radhika Apte, who all made their debut walking for the designer. The couture presentation took place at Panchshil Realty’s Yoo Villas in Pune which launched alongside Malhotra’s collection.

The show took place on a 400 foot circular runway and a total 50 models walked for the designer as the sing Sophie Choudry sang a medley. Before the show, celebrity model Hyadri said: “This is the first time I am walking for Manish, so it’s very special. I always feel that the ramp ends too quickly, but we have a 400ft stage today, and I almost feel like I am running [a] marathon!”

The collection was inspired by the landscape of Kashmir and the colour scheme included pastel hues and whites in a modern take on traditional wear. Wedding looks abounded and Malhotra’s signature embellishments were out in full force.

Speaking about his decision to partner with the launch of Yoo Villas, Malhotra said after the show: “Panchshil Realty and the Manish Malhotra Label speak the same design language. We both stand for modern luxury, an uncompromising eye for detail and reinventing glamour. So the extravagance of Yoo Villas was the perfect match for the launch of my equally dramatic Summer Couture 2018 collection.”

Yoo Villas comprises 45 residences in Pune created by John Hitchcox and Panchshil Realty. The villas have been designed by the British designer Kelly Hoppen and are now open.
