The e-commerce giant Myntra has held the online distribution rights for Mango since 2014 and over the last three years, online business has grown by 100 percent. Now Myntra has taken over the principal supply management for the brand and will be the driving force behind its upcoming Indian expansion.

The Vice President of International Business for Myntra and Mango, India Head, Shifali Singh, stated that Myntra was stepping up its relationship with Mango and taking on the management of the brand’s brick and mortar stores in addition to its online presence. Moreover, the next generation of Mango stores launched will be more in line with the brand’s design aesthetic and they will be opened in places where the brand is in high demand.

The first of Mango’s new format stores will open in Saket, New Delhi, by the end of September and then in the Palladium in Mumbai. Over the next eight months, Mango plans to open a total of eight brick and mortar stores and reach a total of 30 in the coming three to five years. Because Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities account for 45 percent of the brand’s sales, smaller cities will also be targeted in the brands retail expansion.
