ManU gets first outerwear apparel partner

Columbia, the flagship brand of Portland, Oregon-based Columbia Sportswear Company, on Friday announced its new partnership with English football club Manchester United.

The partnership will involve the design and creation of co-branded outdoor apparel suited for “hiking, climbing, mountaineering, as well as water and snow activities.”

With a global community of 659 million fans, Columbia has staked an important claim as the club’s first official outerwear partner.

Senior Vice President of Columbia Merchandising and Design, Joe Boyle, commented, “We are excited by the opportunity to unite the pinnacle franchise in sport with the global leader in the outdoor industry.”

“We look forward to working together to provide our fans with a new way of expressing their support for the Club, via our range of branded outdoor apparel,” commented Manchester United Managing Director, Richard Arnold. “No matter what activity they are partaking in, this partnership will help the Club to accompany our fans wherever they go, taking us with them to new heights, shores and experiences."

Columbia has designed and manufactured outerwear since 1938. The dual branded outerwear collection will launch Fall 2016.
