The Belgian unit of footwear brand Brantano, which is owned by Dutch retail group Macintosh, has been sold to a trio of experienced retail personalities, according to Dutch press.

The trio are Rens van de Schoor (Miss Etam), Dieter Penninckx (FNG) and Wouter Torfs (Schoenen Torfs). A new company, BrantNew, created by van de Schoor,  will own Brantano.

FNG Group isn't directly involved in the acquisition. "It all came a bit too soon for the company", Dieter Penninckx told RetailDetail. "We have a principal agreement about combining it with Etam, a plan that Bank Degroof will elaborate further. Our shareholders will be able to comment on those plans soon as Shoes are not exactly part of FNG Group's comfort zone."

There is an investment plan to renew around 100 Brantano stores over the next three years.

Former Brantano owner Macintosh entered bankruptcy on December 30, 2015, but none of the group's companies other than the listed holding company Macintosh Retail Group N.V. are subject to bankruptcy. Macintosh previously owned Brantano in the UK, too, but sold it to Alteri Investors in October last year.
