Macintosh Retail Group enters bankruptcy

Dutch retail group Macintosh Retail Group has announced that it has been declared bankrupt. Suspension of payments for the group was terminated upon request of the administrators, and converted into bankruptcy on December 30, 2015.

None of the group's companies other than the listed holding company Macintosh Retail Group N.V. are subject to bankruptcy, and all stores will be open as normal.

Macintosh used to own the UK footwear brands Brantano and Jones Bootmaker, but sold them to Alteri Investors in October last year. It still owns Brantano outside of the UK, as well as Manfield, Invito and Dolcis.

“The trustees and the financing banks are exploring all possible scenarios and are in negotiations with several interested parties to sell as many group companies as possible in the interests of employees, creditors and other relevant stakeholders,” the company said. “It is not envisaged that Macintosh Retail Group NV and its shareholders will enjoy financial benefit from any such transactions.”
