On December 22, Lenskart announced an aggressive expansion plan that aims to bring their flagship store count across India to 500 in just a few months. Although the investment figure that the brand has earmarked for this development has not been released, Lenskart have previously stated that they spend between 30 and 33 lakh rupees (approximately $47,000 to $51,000) to open a new flagship store. This will constitute a huge investment for the brand, but one that they are sure will reap dividends.

Lenskart is eyeing the north as one of the areas they will focus on with their new round of store expansion.

“In the north we have plans to strengthen our market in Punjab as there is big demand for the products coming from this state,” said Himanshu Kishore, the Vice President of Lenskart’s North India retail operations.

“We have 13 stores in the state and will take these numbers to 19 by March 2018 end,” Kishore stated.

The eyewear brand has recently been giving back to the community as a way of raising awareness about their brand and about eye testing and eye wear in general. The brand’s Better Sight initiative has been offering free eye check-ups over the winter holiday season at Free Eye Check Up camps at different locations across the country.

Lenskart are also currently promoting their 3D Try On phone app that allows customers to upload a photo of themselves and see how a pair of glasses will look on them without having to visit the store. This is part of their omni-channel approach and the brand will continue to develop its e-commerce store, having recently added a 3D viewing feature.
