The Lajjoo C runway show took place at 2pm on Sunday, February 4, at 6Degree Studio in Mumbai’s Jio Garden as part of the LFW Summer/ Resort edition. The collection was inspired by the city of Mumbai itself and featured a mix of traditional wear and some more casual pieces. The colour scheme was mainly different shades of green, nude, and burnt orange with pops of bright yellow and white. Floral prints and embellishments featured spiked leaves that kept them from being overly feminine and silk textiles added flow and movement to lehengas and kurta sets.

Embroidered organza and silk dupattas accessorised the looks and bandhini and metallic badla was used throughout the collection. More casual elements such as loose or button down shirts alluded to the collection’s urban inspiration and stripes gave a playful touch when seen on kurta trousers or on the borders of dupattas and skirts.

On her social media, Chothani said her collection: “delves into the nostalgia of living in this mammoth city of Mumbai. The clothes are real, and embody what we know as Indian festive to day wear. With remarkable craftsmanship and luxurious fabrics, this collection celebrates clothing like never before.”

Chothani’s designs are available on a variety of multi-brand e-commerce sites such as Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop, Ogaan and the UK’s Aashni & Co.
